Channing Crowder Doubtful for Dolphins on Monday Night

DAVIE, Fla. -- Choosing to err on the side of caution, the Miami Dolphins have listed middle linebacker Channing Crowder as doubtful for Monday night's game with the New England Patriots at Sun Life Stadium one day after Crowder flew to Philadelphia to see Dr. Bill Meyers about his groin injury. Meyers is a specialist when it comes to sports hernias.

The fact that Crowder had a helmet on and was back on the practice field inside the team's bubble looked to be an encouraging sign, but he was limited to watching the defensive drills by the linebackers and worked with the scout team on team drills. It appears that Miami is focused on giving Crowder time to get ready for the next road game at the Green Bay Packers in Oct. 17 with a bye coming up after the Patriots game.

Rookie right guard John Jerry (illness) and rookie defensive end Jared Odrick (leg) did not practice for the fourth straight day and have been ruled out for the game. Pro Bowl left tackle Jake Long (knee) and rookie cornerback Nolan Carroll (hand) practiced in full and both are listed as probable.

Odrick injured his leg in the Dolphins' season-opening win at Buffalo and was in a protective walking boot until last week. He actually watched part of the Sunday night loss to the New York Jets from the brand new LIV Sun Life nightclub in the West End Zone. That was very difficult for the first-round draft pick out of Penn State, and he admitted he wants to be out there real bad on Monday night.

"It's tougher than you think because you want to be out there," Odrick said. "People know that but at the same time even though you're out and you want to be out there you always have in the back of your head, 'Are people thinking I'm milking it?' And there's tons of stuff going through your head and it kind of drives you more to get back even quicker and come back even better."
